PC Upgrade Planning Guide
Plan a PC upgrade by checking performance, compatibility, power, cooling, and the value of keeping parts that still work.
Measure before replacing parts
Use the games and applications you actually care about to identify where performance falls short. Frame rate alone does not explain the cause, so consider utilization, temperatures, memory capacity, storage behavior, and whether settings changes solve the issue first.
Compatibility checklist
Before buying a component, verify motherboard support, physical dimensions, connectors, power-supply capacity, cooling clearance, and case airflow. Firmware or BIOS support can matter for some CPU and motherboard combinations.
Think in systems
A major upgrade can expose a different limitation. That does not mean every component must be replaced at once; it means you should understand the system around the new part and set realistic expectations for the games you play.
Reuse good components
Cases, storage, fans, power supplies, and peripherals can sometimes carry forward when they remain compatible and reliable. Reusing suitable parts can put more of the budget toward the component that provides the improvement you want.
Product specifications and prices change. Verify current specifications, compatibility, warranty terms, and pricing with the manufacturer or retailer before purchasing.
